Revision Surgery
If you have had previous weight loss surgery that has not worked for you, or if you have developed complications from previous gastric band surgery, it may be appropriate to consider revision surgery. Most commonly, this entails the conversion of a gastric band, or vertical banded gastroplasty into a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. This surgery should only be contemplated in a specialist centre with experienced surgeons and we are able to offer such a service.
It is important to have a full discussion with the team about your particular circumstance and to fully understand what the expectations of revision surgery would be. As the eating behaviours and feelings of fullness are quite different between the operations, it is also important to manage your expectations - talking to other patients who have undergone revision surgery is an essential part of your pre-operative preparation.
